Goldington Academy is a very successful school in Bedford, which serves an established area to the north-east of Bedford town centre. The school has an excellent reputation in the local community and is significantly oversubscribed.
In line with Bedford Borough’s move to a two-tier education system, Goldington Academy has started its exciting journey to become a secondary school. Our first cohort of secondary students (currently in Year 9) will sit their GCSEs with us in 2020.
The school, which is very well resourced with interactive facilities in each teaching space, has been rated good by Ofsted.
In a recent survey, which was used by Ofsted during the school’s latest inspection, 99% of the parents who responded said their child was either “happy” or “very happy” at Goldington Academy. I believe that this “happiness” comes from many different aspects of the provision at Goldington Academy, including our staff, learning in lessons, high expectations for behaviour and the array of extra-curricular activities on offer.
We have had millions of pounds invested in the school over the last five years. The first-rate facilities provide our excellent teaching staff with the means to offer varied and inspiring learning opportunities for students, both through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities. The reputation of the school remains strong with demand for places very high. We currently have more pupils on roll than at any time in the school’s 50 year history.
Ofsted said: “Goldington Academy is a very welcoming school where pupils achieve well. Pupils, from the youngest to the eldest, and from varying backgrounds, work together with respect for one another and the staff.”
The Pilgrim Learning Trust said: A strength of Goldington Academy is its “Strong positive ethos and a culture rich in expectation”
We want our students to be well-rounded, confident, caring young people with leadership skills, who are motivated to achieve their best; are fully involved in the school, local and global community; and leave us as life-long learners equipped to build on their success and contribute positively to our future.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All posts are subject to Enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory employment history references.
